Overview
The Embraer Praetor 600 entered service in 2019 and immediately redefined the super-midsize segment by offering true transatlantic range — 7,223 km — in an aircraft with super-midsize operating costs. Before the Praetor 600, nonstop London-New York or Paris-Dubai flights required heavy jets costing significantly more per hour to operate.
The Praetor 600 is based on the proven Legacy 500/450 platform but represents a substantial evolution: new winglets, increased fuel capacity, a full fly-by-wire flight control system (the first in any super-midsize jet), and enhanced cabin systems. Embraer leveraged its extensive experience as the world's third-largest aircraft manufacturer to deliver an aircraft that combines airline-derived systems reliability with bespoke cabin luxury.
The fly-by-wire system provides flight envelope protection, turbulence load alleviation, and handling qualities that pilots consistently rate as best-in-class. For operators, this translates into lower pilot training costs, reduced fatigue on long sectors, and enhanced safety margins.

Performance
The Praetor 600 achieves its class-leading 7,223 km range through a combination of efficient HTF7500E engines, advanced winglet design, and optimised fuel capacity. The total fuel burn at long-range cruise is approximately 820 kg/h — competitive with smaller jets that offer far less range. This means operators get heavy-jet range at super-midsize economics.
The fly-by-wire system, derived from Embraer's E-Jet commercial programme, is the Praetor 600's technological centrepiece. It provides automatic trim, flight envelope protection that prevents stalls and over-speed conditions, and a turbulence load alleviation function that smooths the ride at all altitudes. The system also enables reduced approach speeds, contributing to the 839 m landing distance.
The Collins Pro Line Fusion avionics suite features four 14.1-inch high-resolution displays, synthetic vision, and optional head-up display with enhanced vision. The system is designed for future capability growth, ensuring the Praetor 600 remains technologically current throughout its service life.
Cabin Layout
The Praetor 600 cabin measures 8.23 m long, 2.08 m wide, and 1.83 m high with a flat floor — one of the longest cabins in the super-midsize class. A typical configuration includes a forward four-seat club, an aft four-seat club or conference group, and an option for a three-seat divan or additional single seats. The 4.42 m3 baggage compartment is one of the largest in the segment.
Embraer offers the cabin in several design themes, including the OvalLite interior with stone flooring, premium leather, and handcrafted veneer. The Honeywell Ovation Select cabin management system provides full control of lighting, temperature, window shades, and entertainment from personal devices or cabin touchscreens.
High-speed Ka-band connectivity is available as an option, enabling video conferencing, streaming, and cloud access at broadband speeds even over the Atlantic. The cabin altitude at FL450 is maintained at approximately 1,768 m.

Competitors
The Praetor 600 competes with the Bombardier Challenger 350, Cessna Citation Longitude, and Dassault Falcon 2000LXS. Against the Challenger 350, the Praetor offers significantly more range (7,223 km vs 6,019 km) and fly-by-wire controls, while the Challenger provides a wider cabin.
Against the Longitude, the Praetor 600 delivers 740 km more range, a wider and longer cabin, and fly-by-wire controls. The Longitude counters with lower operating costs and the quietest cabin in class. Against the Falcon 2000LXS, the Praetor offers comparable range at a lower acquisition price, while the Falcon provides an even wider cabin and superior short-field performance.
Embraer's Executive Care programme provides comprehensive coverage including parts, labour, and technical support through a global network of 80+ authorised service centres, ensuring high availability and predictable ownership costs.
