Overview
The HondaJet Elite S represents the culmination of over 30 years of research by Honda Aircraft Company. When Honda founder Soichiro Honda declared that Honda would one day build aircraft, few believed it. Today, the HondaJet is the most-delivered aircraft in its class for multiple consecutive years, with over 250 in service worldwide.
The HondaJet's most distinctive feature is its patented Over-The-Wing Engine Mount (OTWEM) configuration. Instead of mounting engines on the rear fuselage like every other light jet, Honda places them on pylons above the wing. This unconventional design reduces aerodynamic interference, eliminates the need for a structural carry-through in the fuselage, and allows a larger, more usable cabin and baggage area.
The Elite S variant, introduced in 2021, adds extended range (2,661 km), upgraded avionics, enhanced ground spoilers for shorter landing distances, and FAA Data Comm capability. It builds on the Elite's improvements of increased range, noise-attenuating engine inlet design, and a galley with coffee brewer.

Performance
The GE Honda HF120 engines are jointly developed by Honda and GE Aviation, combining Honda's turbine technology with GE's decades of engine experience. Each engine produces 2,050 lbf of thrust while consuming remarkably little fuel — total burn at long-range cruise is approximately 310 kg/h, the lowest of any business jet in production.
This fuel efficiency translates directly into the lowest operating costs in business aviation. Direct operating costs for the HondaJet are approximately 30-40% lower than the next most economical light jet. For owner-operators and charter companies, this economic advantage is transformative.
The over-the-wing engine placement also reduces cabin noise significantly. Without engine pylons or structural carry-throughs penetrating the fuselage, the cabin is quieter and more comfortable than conventionally configured jets. The OTWEM design additionally reduces wave drag at high speeds, contributing to the HondaJet's class-leading maximum speed of 782 km/h.
Cabin Layout
The OTWEM design pays dividends inside the cabin. By eliminating the fuselage structure needed for conventional rear-mounted engines, Honda created the largest cabin cross-section in the very light jet class. The 3.71 m cabin accommodates up to six passengers — typically in a four-seat club arrangement plus a single belted lavatory seat.
The cabin features leather upholstery, executive wood veneer, and a refreshment centre with a coffee brewer — unusual in a jet of this size. Each seat includes USB charging and personal air vents. The enclosed lavatory is fully belted, serving as a sixth seat during takeoff and landing.
The 1.87 m3 baggage compartment is the largest in class, thanks again to the OTWEM freeing up fuselage space that would otherwise be consumed by engine structure. It can accommodate golf bags, multiple suitcases, and ski equipment.

Competitors
The HondaJet Elite S competes with the Cirrus Vision Jet, Eclipse 550, and at the upper end, the Embraer Phenom 100EV. Against all competitors, the HondaJet offers the highest speed, the largest cabin and baggage area, and the lowest operating costs. The Cirrus Vision Jet is less expensive to purchase but significantly slower with less range and only a single engine.
For buyers stepping up from turboprops or entering jet ownership for the first time, the HondaJet Elite S offers an unmatched combination of economy, performance, and the innovative engineering that has become Honda's hallmark across automotive, motorcycle, and now aviation.
Honda Aircraft Company supports the fleet through a growing network of authorised service centres in the Americas, Europe, and Asia, with mobile service teams and parts distribution ensuring rapid response times worldwide.
